The Uwharrie National Forest offers some of the most extensive horseback riding trails in the entire state.  There are trails that traverse the ridges of the beautiful Uwharrie Mountains, others that follow the shore line of tranquil Badin Lake, and still others that follow the banks of the winding Uwharrie River.  You can even combine a horseback ride with a relaxing kayak trip on the Uwharrie River.  You will ride your horse right down to the river where your kayak will be waiting on you.
